Global Birdfair 2025

Global Birdfair is back! The world's largest annual celebration of birds, generating huge support for bird conservation, will be taking place at Rutland Water, UK, from the 11th - 13th July 2025.

This year, the Global Birdfair 2025 Conservation Project is called Safeguarding Ocean Species. This vital project will focus on tackling threats facing our magnificent seabirds in the southern Pacific by increasing the use of bycatch mitigation measures on longline fishing vessels. The project will reduce accidental killing of species such as the Antipodean Albatross and create greater awareness of this problem on a global scale.

Join us at Global Birdfair this year! With exciting talks, activities and an interactive stand that will keep you coming back, don’t miss out!

  • Learn all about the Antipodean Albatross and make a mini Albatross to take home!
  • Discover how birds travel on marine migration routes called flyways
  • Relax in our very own ‘boat pod’ and listen to the sound of waves
  • Meet the team working to save albatrosses in the Pacific
  • Go on your own flyway around Global Birdfair to meet our partners and collect stamps in your Flyways Passport to get an exclusive pin badge

By purchasing a Global Birdfair ticket, your money will go directly to mitigating threats to the Antipodean Albatross. The project will fund local women’s groups to produce ‘Tori lines’ – an effective bird scaring line that prevents Albatrosses being tangled in fishing gear (see images above) as well as champion best practice for sustainable fisheries.

Have you met the Global Birdfair organisers – Tim Appleton MBE and Penny Robinson? Their dedication and passion for birds has raised millions for bird conservation! Together with a team of fantastic volunteers, Tim and Penny are responsible for the Global Birdfair we know and love today.

Our heartfelt thanks to the whole Global Birdfair team for dedicating their support towards this important project. Our seas are in a critical state, but with resources for conservation, we can make a genuine difference to the lives of the wildlife and people that depend on them.
